CONFERENCE DIRECTOR
Looking for an ambitious, energetic and organized Conference Director
We are looking for an experienced and talented Conference Director in life sciences, IT, and investment. This person must be a self-starter, have strong project management skills, work well in teams, and have an appetite for more! Ideal candidates will have knowledge of life science, healthcare, and/or technology, with direct experience producing business or investor events or working in the investment space. This position requires travel: typically 4-5 times annually.
The Conference Director for these events recruits and establishes conference co-chairs and/or advisory boards, and leverages these groups to develop the conference topics, content and agenda, and recruit speakers, panelists and moderators. The Conference Director must be able to build relationships in various industries and develop and manage a dynamic portfolio of conferences. This person must be a top-notch communicator with exceptional relationship-management skills and the ability to effectively motivate and hold accountable third-party conference organizers, including co-chairs and advisory boards. Knowledge of social media is also very important.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, topics, and speakers relevant to the target industry
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define conference objectives, themes, and target audience
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry experts, speakers, and thought leaders to secure their participation in conferences
- Design conference agendas, session formats, and presentation topics that provide value and promote attendee engagement
- Manage the end-to-end production process, including speaker coordination, logistics planning, and timeline management
- Ensure seamless execution of conferences by coordinating with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and sales
- Evaluate post-conference feedback and metrics to continually improve the quality and impact of future events
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor events, and best practices to enhance conference content and delivery
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Conference Director or Producer, with a successful track record of planning and executing conferences
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the event industry, conference formats, and audience expectations
- Excellent research and analytical skills to identify industry trends and gather relevant market insights
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and speakers
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Creative mindset with a passion for creating engaging and thought-provoking conference experiences
- Proficiency in event management software and tools

Compensation is a combination of salary and performance-based incentives. Salary for a conference producer with 5 years of direct experience is around $100,000 to start. Incentives could add $10,000 or more in the first year, with double-digit upside potential in subsequent years.

Specific responsibilities include:

- Coordinate the fulfillment of clients’ contracted deliverables, e.g. set up one-on-one meetings for sponsors at events, order branded items, and organize the exhibit hall game card and raffle.
- Write and proofread sales-related marketing materials, e.g. brochures and event websites.
- Collaborate with the design team on production of exhibit & sponsorship collateral.
- Create, post, and update web content for sponsorship and exhibit pages.
- Develop LinkedIn social media promotions to increase event visibility and drive sponsorship and exhibit sales.
- Maintain the Sponsor & Exhibitor Portal: ensure deadlines are accurate, information is posted for clients to access, and client content is uploaded by the deadlines.
- Conduct market research on competitive events to identify prospective sponsors and expand the prospect database.
- Assist with client requests for demographics, attendee lists, and other event statistics.
- Support engagement initiatives, e.g. cooperative client registration discount campaigns.
- Travel to events as needed to assist with on-site deliverables and client support. This is one of the most gratifying and enjoyable parts of the job!

Core Skills and Qualifications:
- 1-2 years’ experience supporting sales with marketing execution: email marketing, social media (especially LinkedIn), and basic campaign coordination

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-driven, analytical, and proactive SENIOR ACCOUNTANT / CONTROLLER to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex accounting challenges, and contributes to process improvements. The Senior Accountant / Controller will play a key role in month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data.
Location is hybrid: mostly remote, with 1-2 days/week working in Needham, MA headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
General Ledger & Accounting Operations
- Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts
- Assist with revenue recognition and expense allocations
- Review and reconcile bank accounts, credit card transactions, and balance sheet accounts
Audit & Compliance
- Support external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and explanations
- Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to accounting policies
- Assist in developing and updating accounting procedures
Process Improvement

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
